Our government might do away with sugar subsidy, which I think it’s great.
Without subsidy, sugar price might increase by another RM1, which I think it’s quite acceptable. Afterall, Malaysia is the only country in the world has sugar subsidy.
Reason to stop subsidy?
To encourage Malaysian to adopt a better and healthier lifestyle.
I personally think it will take political might to see this in place as in past occurences, shortage of sugar supply is a NATIONAL DISASTER! Everyone started to horde supplies and price of our national beverage, Teh tarik undoubtedly, increased. Everyone cried foul and threatened to vote oppositions for coming election.
Like I said, it takes political might to make it a reality. And life is definitely not sugar laden, most of the time.
