Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

Malaysia has come a long way and she is going to celebrate its 52nd birthday come August 31, 09 Monday.

Here, I would like to wish all Malaysian “Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan”.

My simple and humble wish is to see crime rate reduced, stronger economy and better Governance under Najib’s stewardship (though my all time favourite PM was and still is, Tun Mahathir)

Service with a…smile

As I mentioned in my previous posting, how do we know we are being served with a smile nowadays with the majority wearing masks?

Bank staff wearing masks..

Hotel staff wearing masks..

Doctors wearing masks..

Post office staff wearing masks..

I came across this cartoon which answered my question..(due recognition is given to Kee’s world)

Mind your language

RM120 to reborn? I didn’t know we can actually do that here.

I guess the correct word is “rebonding” instead of “rebornding”

Proof read, people..proof read.

I dont claim my English to be good and I dont speak with a upper tight lips, unlike Queen E but at least caucasians “verstehen sie” me.

However, when it comes to Mandarin, I am at my wit’s end.

Just only yesterday, I spoke to Celeste in Mandarin (trying to encourage her to speak Mandarin – I know, its like blind leading a blind!) and she said, “Daddy, you talk to me in English lar. Mommy talk to me in Mandarin. You dont know Mandarin”!

Well, at least Celeste knows whom to learn Mandarin from. Love you darling.

IHMES stands for International Hotel Management & English Studies and thats where I pursued my studies in the Isle of Man, UK. Year? 1989-1992.

Time sure flies. It’s almost like 20 years ago, where I spent the best of my life abroad.

It’s there that I had my major heartbreak as well as new found friends.

It’s there that I had my ear pierced and wore torn jeans.

It’s there that I had my first International driving license and bought my 1st car – Fiat Pinto (to impress the gals)

It’s there that I first learned how to pull  perfectly foam Tetley bitter (worked as bartender)

It’s there that I found out a caucasian girl liked me, despite me being a “Ah Boy” She worked in the same bar. Decent gal.

Ironically, of all the whole batch of students, I am the remaining one still in hotel industry. The rest, gave up many moons ago.

This photo was taken during one of the College’s cultural evening where students performed for an audience.

What did I do? Myself and Larry (Singaporean buddy) performed martial art while standing on top of broken glasses. Audience was in awe and some approached us to teach them the art!

Tie my hair, daddy

Depending on her moods, Celeste would sometimes ask me to tie her hair before school. And I used to dread it as I really struggled to make her look normal with my skills.

Angie, once saw Celeste’s hair and before she could say anything, I blurted out, “she looks like having horns, huh?”

Yesterday night was no exception for me. Celeste wanted ME to tie her hair. Not ney, nor anyone else. ME..

I guess i did a pretty decent job as ney said she couldn’t have done any better. You be the judge.

Pasar malam and such

Despite raining cats and dogs yesterday, i braved myself to pasar malam with a clear cut mission. To get steamed sweetcorn for darling and “apom” for ney. And for me, “aphrodisiac” baked salted chicken for me.

Managed to get the corn but not the apom (wasn’t open). As I was paying for the baked salted chicken, as if on cue, the owner told me that I dont need “viagra” after tasting his fowl.

It made me start to wonder whether i have the sex deprived look or I really need “viagra”. I managed to smile wryly and sealed the transaction as quickly as possible.

Before I hit home, I managed to get “lotus root” as I planned to make lotus root soup over the weekend. Last on the grocery list, was pisang rastali which is ney’s favourite as well as darling’s.

Love them both

My ex staff from True Fitness sprang a surprise visit to the hotel 2 days ago, seeking advice. We used to call him “camel” simply because of his physical attributes.

He is about 6’3″ short and I hated to walk besides him.

As you can see, he gladly posed for the camera as advice doesnt come free. All the best with the new hotel, buddy.
